Important informationYou cannot feed the animals anything that you bring with you. Chimpanzee feedings can be observed daily at 10:30, 12:30, 15:00 and 17:00 (at 16:00 during Winter time). Dogs only allowed on leashes.

Offer yourself and your entire family a fun activity with a trip to the Leintalzoo in Schwaigern near Heilbronn. The largest chimpanzee family in Germany lives here! Currently 34 of these monkeys play in indoor and outdoor areas.

See how chimpanzees are fed every day at 10:30 am, 12:30 pm, 3 pm and 5 pm (at 4 pm during winter). Leintalzoo in Schwaigern is also home to other primate species. In the nice petting zoo area, animals can be touched and fed, which is something particulary attractive for young visitors.

You can buy animal food at the ticket counter for 1 euro, but it must only be handed out in the petting zoo area. However, feeding the monkeys elsewhere is prohibited as is feeding the animals with food you brought.

You can also admire free roaming peacocks and visit the aviaries and marvel at many exotic and colorful birds.

If you frequently visit the Leintalzoo with your family you can choose a year pass from the ticket category.

The zoo is open daily all year round.

Opening hours:

  • Summer: 10 am to 6 pm
  • Winter: 10 am to 4 pm
  • Guests are asked to leave the zoo before 8 pm during summer time


All areas of the park are accessible to wheelchair users. Younger guests will also enjoy the adventure playground with bouncy castles, slides and climbing pyramid, while the parents lounge on the terrace for a coffee break. Dogs are welcome to the zoo, but they must always be kept on a leash.
